About the Daycare

The St Gabriel BASE Daycare Program is a day supervision service, organized outside class hours for preschool and elementary school children.

The main objective of our qualified team of educators is to guide the children through educational experiences conductive to the social, emotional and physical growth of each child. Our daycare offers a caring, safe learning environment that promotes respect.

Our daycare is in compliance with the Quebec Education Act and the bugetary rules of the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS). Check out what people say on the EMSB twitter account

Snack Program

In order to improve motivation, learning performance and concentration, the daycare provides students with a healthy nut-free snack. Students will develop healthy eating habits that will lead to living a healthier lifestyle.

Homework Period

Students are allotted specific time every day to begin their homework in a quiet and studious environment. Daycare educators are at hand to assist students with their assignments. Parents should still verify their child's homework at home.

Upon completion of homework period the daycare also offers a variety of enriching extra-curricular activities in keeping with the needs and interests of the children. All activities are free of charge and supervised by qualified staff.

Children can participate in activities such as:

  • Arts and Crafts

Fee Structure

Daycare fee structure is based on the student’s status in the daycare. A student’s status is designated as Regular, Sporadic or Occasional.
(For a maximum of five hours)
Sporadic + Occasional:
(On regular school days)
Fees are based on the blocks the student attends, partial or full, and varies per school depending on the time of each daycare period.
Pedagogical Day:
(For a total of 10 hours.
Additional activity fees may apply)
$12.00 / day
A regular student is one who is registered and attending Daycare for a minimum of one to five days a week and a minimum of two periods a day. This applies to students who attend on a weekly basis and follow a fixed schedule.
A sporadic student is one who is registered and attending Daycare for one period a day (AM, LUNCH or PM). Please note that the lunch period is considered a block. A sporadic student is also someone who is registered and attends on a pedagogical day.
An occasional student is one who is registered but does not have a forecasted attendance and does not attend on a weekly basis. Daycare Services are needed for emergency purposes. The parent/guardian must give the daycare a 24-hour notice when possible and keep in mind that it is not a guarantee that their child(ren) will be put in the same daycare group as their classmates.

Pedagogical Days

Daycare is also available on pedagogical days if 15 or more students are registered for that day. All St. Gabriel students may attend daycare on a pedagogical day.

Outings or planned activities will be organized for each pedagogical day that the daycare is open. Additional fees may be charged for the outing or activity.
